“It is well known in child welfare that a child or youth need only one strong connection with an adult to feel confidence, build resilience and understand their worth. Just one. So many times, that one caring adult is a volunteer. A volunteer who forms that life sustaining relationship with a child or youth making this big difference in their lives. A volunteer who does so out of a selfless need to share their wisdom, caring and affection with a child or youth who needs them. This is a beautiful example of empathy in action.
